Rapid Response…

December 22nd, 2008

The Universe is in rapid response mode for me at the moment-I was at the airport yesterday on my way to our family festivities, when something caught my eye in the bookstore…
It turned out to be “The Key to Living the Law of Attraction” by Jack Canfield, who was one of the major contributors to “the Secret” and is well known for his book “Chicken soup for the Soul” and many others. ( my sponsor is a big fan ;-D)

So I bought it and read most of it on the plane! He touches much more on the problems of self sabotage and negative thinking than in the secret and lists some other websites that offer powerful releasing techniques – the EFT site already posted on this blog;
www.emofree.com
and two others which I’ve yet to try but here they are;
The Sedona Method by Hale Dwoskin
www.sedonamethod.com
The Work of Byron Katie
www.thework.com

I should have a lot more “me time” over the holidays so I hope to have a good look at both these sites….

My own experience of EFT is still proving very effective – despite being a lazy git and not doing the follow up work, I am finding that the affirmation I used to “treat” this particular negative thought pattern pops straight into my head whenever the thought surfaces, which anyway is much less frequently than before, and that simply repeating the affirmation a few times is providing relief :-)

My daughter’s first observation on her Xmas visit from uni, “Ere Dad, I Know it’s juvenile, but come over here and look thataway”
Isn’t education wonderful!

EFT..

December 18th, 2008

I tried the EFT techniques I mentioned in my last post on one of my more unpleasant recurring negative thoughts a couple of days ago and so far so good….not completely gone, but greatly reduced – I’m well impressed :-D
So for my next move-as it sort of says in the manual “rinse and repeat”.

Another thing I’ve yet to mention that I’ve found useful is “guided meditation”.
On tape, cd or mp3, there are all kinds from “quit smoking” to “win the lottery”(joke!) but the mechanics are the same – soothing music overlaid with metronome sounds or “binaural beats” to cause you to relax into an Alpha brainwave state, and then introduce positive affirmations on top. The basic idea is to get these affirmations deep into the subconscious.
I had used these many years ago to great effect and then slowly forgot about them and went on my not so merry way. But since AA managed to wake up my spirituality I’m remembering all this stuff and trying it out again.
At the moment I’m using a self esteem meditation on my mp3 player and after 20 minutes I really do emerge relaxed, refreshed and positive.

And Grateful for another sober day

be well
